The Bogies Train is a part of a railway vehicle that includes the running gear and the supporting structure connected to it.
It can also be equipped with traction motors in which case it is often referred to as a “motor cart”. The bogies of railway vehicles are commonly of two axles but, in the case of wagons for the transport of special goods or of high mass, they can have 3 or more axles.
The different characteristics of the bogies train system are indicated by a code composed of letters and numbers according to the classification of the running gear set by the Union Internationale de chemins de fer of two carriages, while a locomotive can have even three or four.
Sometimes, in the case of blocked compositions, two contiguous vehicles are placed on a single cart, creating an articulated complex.
A bogies train (or even a small frame) has, respect to the main frame, a double relative movement, one of rotation around a pin joining the two frames, the other of lateral displacement since the casing of the pin (case connected to the bogies train) can swing in a plane transverse to the machine.
This linkage of pendular nature gives rise to a recall force (a component of gravity) that automatically brings the bogies train back, moving in the curves, to its normal position in the center line.
